How old are the children?
It's a mixed-age classroom, between 2.5 (2.5-year-olds must be potty trained and receive special approval) and 5. Children may also join midyear.
What are the hours?
From 9 am to 1 pm. School is in session Monday through Friday. Children attend between three and five days per week.
What is expected of me as a parent?
- Attend three general meetings throughout the year; the first includes orientation.
- Assist in the classroom on assigned days and be available on scheduled alternate days.
- Speak German in the classroom to children, teacher and other parents whenever possible. Parents who do not speak German should try to learn some rudimentary German (free resources are available in the classroom or through Multnomah County Library).
- Fulfill your Kinderschule job duties. Jobs are available on a first-come basis and will be assigned accordingly. Actively participate in fundraising activities.
- Participate in maintaining and cleaning the classroom as needed.
- Meet other requirements as stated in the Parent Agreement or as determined by the Board of Directors.
