Our Teachers
Brigitte Bonfield
Brigitte is from Nuremberg, Germany. Brigitte has a big heart for children! She holds a master's degree in art, illustration and photography. During her years as an art director, she worked very closely with and for children, developing children's games and illustrating children's books. She also organized art projects in her son's kindergarten. Brigitte was an au pair in London for two years where she worked for a family with three children, both providing childcare and teaching the children the German language. She has also served as a teacher at the German Saturday School in Portland where she worked with both native- and nonnative-speaking children. For more than 10 years she has also been a member of the Immotion Dance Group, a modern dance group based on the teaching of Rudolf Steiner's eurythmy. With her considerable experience in the arts, Brigitte can offer your child the right instrument to enhance a creative mind. Brigitte teaches on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays.
Sybille Trombi
Sybille is from the Franconia area (Unterfranken), Schweinfurt, Germany. She finished her education at the Fachakademie for Sozialpadagogik in Schweinfurt/Würzburg as an “Erzieher” (field for social work and education) in 1984 and worked with preschool children in German kindergartens. During the last 10 years of her career in Germany, she worked in an institution for blind and handicapped children in the Würzburg and Munich area. Sybille moved to the United States 16 years ago, married and has three children (ages 13, 11 and 7). For the last five years she has lived in Gresham. Sybille has a heart for the individual child and has worked extensively with children and teenagers in various social and ministry settings with her husband Bob. It is Sybille's goal to see the children of Portland Kinderschule flourish, not only in acquiring the use of the German language, but also in fostering the development of social, academic, emotional and physical areas with all their many expressions in the world of a 3- to 5-year-old child.
